Bridging the gap. Dental bridges literally bridge the gap between missing and stable teeth. A dental bridge can be used to replace one or more missing teeth. The bridge attaches to the remaining natural teeth on either side forming that bridge. A bridge can help patients achieve a beautiful smile and help prevent natural teeth from shifting or rotating into the space that’s created by the missing teeth.
Full and Partial Dentures
For patients looking for affordable options when it comes to replacing teeth, Dentures are often recommended. Dentures can be used to replace one missing tooth, or as many as all of your teeth. There are two types of dentures – Full and Partial. Full dentures replace all of the teeth in the top and/or bottom section of your mouth, and are usually made from acrylic with acrylic or porcelain teeth. Partial dentures can be used to replace one or more missing teeth, and are generally made from a combination of acrylic and metal.
Implant Supported Overdenture
Would it surprise you to learn that many people who have conventional dentures don't wear them for the simple fact that they don't stay in place? Dental implants offer a way to keep dentures in place and allow you to go about your daily life with confidence.
6 Benefits of Implant Supported Overdentures
Restores proper chewing allowing a better diet and improved health
Improves speech and confidence
Increases comfort as there is less gum irritation
Ends the cost and inconvenience of adhesives
Can often utilize existing denture
Minimally invasive procedure
Implant crowns are used to replace an individual tooth, and can replace a bridge. Many times an implant and implant crown is preferable to a bridge because we do not need to prepare the adjacent teeth to place an implant.
Implant Supported Bridges
At Odyssey Dental Care, we provide implant supported bridges for fixed and removable bridges.
Fixed bridges are bridges that cannot be removed. When several teeth in a row are missing, they can be placed by a bridge that is anchored to implants. An implant is not needed for every tooth being replaced. In fact three or four teeth can be replaced with just two dental implants for support.
Dental implants are strong and can support the biting force of several teeth when they are anchored together.
Removable Bridges (Bridges or Partials)
When many, but not all, teeth are missing a removable partial denture supported by implants can be made. This eliminates the metal clasps associated with partial dentures. Many teeth can be replaced with a minimum number of implants, thus reducing costs. The implants prevent the partial denture from moving around or coming loose. The remaining teeth are protected because the partial denture does not clasp on them with wires.
Full Mouth Reconstruction
At Odyssey Dental Care we have extensive experience and proven success in the area of full mouth reconstruction using dental implants. The most natural results are achieved when a beautiful porcelain crown and bridge treatment is used in conjunction with precise implant placement. Usually, 6-8 implants on the upper and 4-6 implants on the lower are used to support an entire set of teeth. The teeth are cemented or screwed in and they look and feel just like real teeth.
