Teeth Bonding in Winnipeg

Winnipeg's Odyssey Dental Care provides tooth bonding services for patients in East Kildonan and Transcona, who are looking to fill gaps in-between teeth and to repair broken, chipped, cracked and stained teeth.

What is tooth bonding?

Tooth bonding, also known as bonded restoration, is used to make minor repairs to teeth. Usually, several teeth can be bonded in one dental visit. Tooth bonding uses tooth-coloured material, called composite resin.

Our experienced Winnipeg dental team at Odyssey Dental Care will choose a tooth-coloured composite resin to match the shade of your existing teeth. The resin is applied to the teeth in a process similar to filling a cavity and is sometimes referred to as bonding because an adhesive agent is used to actually bond the resin to the tooth structure.

Once the composite resin is placed on the tooth, it is then shaped, hardened with light and polished to blend in nicely with your natural teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of tooth bonding?

Tooth bonding can be used to:

  • Shape the missing part of a chipped tooth.

  • Build up teeth and fill gaps in-between teeth.

  • Repair a broken tooth and restore it to size.

  • Paint over a stained tooth to make it match the colour of your surrounding teeth.

Tooth bonding is a restoration treatment and has the appearance and feel of natural teeth. The bonded material is blended into different shades, toughness, and translucencies to match the natural colour of your teeth.

Is tooth bonding right for me?

At Odyssey Dental Care, we understand that tooth bonding isn't for everyone. If your smile is crooked as the result of an orthodontic problem (for example an underbite), this treatment won't serve to correct it. Instead, your dentist may determine if more in-depth work is needed like adjusting your bite or correcting any complex chips or gaps in your teeth. Tooth bonding is primarily for those who seek a cosmetic solution for teeth that are otherwise healthy.

What aftercare is required for tooth bonding?

Bonded teeth do not require any special aftercare. In fact, taking care of tooth bonding is simple.

Simply follow good oral hygiene etiquette. Brushing teeth at least twice a day and flossing at least once a day is required. Because bonding material can chip, it is important to avoid such habits as biting fingernails; biting on hard objects such as pens and ice cubes; or using your bonded teeth to open things.

If you do notice any sharp edges on a bonded tooth or if your tooth feels odd when you bite down, please let us know!

Will my tooth bonding be visible?

If done correctly, your tooth bonding should not be visible at all. The material used is colour matched to the shade of your natural teeth. This ensures that the tooth bonding blends flawlessly with your smile. Tooth bonding is meant to enhance your smile. It is not meant to advertise that you have had any dental work done.
